The 74th Colorado General Assembly convenes on Jan. 9! The Children’s Campaign team is ready to leverage its policy and advocacy expertise to support kids and families across the state. We are excited to share our 2023 Policy Priorities. They reflect our new Strategic Framework’s north star goals: improving youth success, family economic prosperity, early childhood, and child and family health in Colorado. Some of the efforts we are focusing on this year include:

  • In Child and Family Health: Multi-year continuous eligibility for Medicaid and Child Health Plan Plus
  • In Youth Success: Enhancing school climate data collection
  • In Early Childhood: Child Care Contribution Tax Credit reauthorization
  • In Family Economic Prosperity: Transparency in and access to eviction proceedings

This list only scratches the surface of what we will be working on this year. Visit our website to read more about our policy priorities.

The Children’s Campaign 2023 legislative agenda continues to prioritize equity in policy development and implementation. As we develop policy solutions, we focus primarily on race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status because research shows these factors are some of the strongest determinants of child outcomes. We recognize that longstanding, racist policies and practices have created significant barriers to opportunity for many people in our state. Learn more about our best practices for crafting equity informed policies.

We hope you will follow along with us over the next few months as we share the most up-to-date information on all things child well-being at the Capitol. We look forward to bringing you Capitol Updates, the fifth season of The West Steps podcast, new video content, and more.
