Today, the U.S. Treasury secretary announced that due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the federal tax filing and payment deadline has been extended 90 days until July 15, 2020. Colorado Governor Polis also announced that the deadline for state taxes will be extended 90 days as well.

Taxpayers now have an additional 90 days to file their federal and state income tax returns and make payments without penalty if they owe. For those who think they are getting a refund, particularly from the Earned Income Tax Credit, Get Ahead Colorado is encouraging to file as soon as possible to receive a refund. Free online filing options can be found here. Get more information on the Get Ahead Colorado website and through their Facebook and Twitter pages.
