New grants available for school health professionals
As a part of the American Rescue Plan, the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) provides funds to eligible education providers to enhance the presence of school health professionals in both elementary and secondary schools. Eligible school health professionals include school nurses, school psychologists, school social workers, and school counselors.
The federal reimbursement grant program intends to:
- Increase the presence of licensed school health professionals to provide behavioral health education and intervention to students.
- Provide training and resources to school staff for implementing evidence-based behavioral health programming for all students.
- Allow school health professionals to connect students with services provided by community-based organizations for treatment and counseling.
The intent to apply submission deadline is due on Nov. 1. The grant application is due Nov. 18. Applications for these grants must be submitted through the online application. Learn more on the Colorado Department of Education’s website.
