KIDS COUNT on the road

This week our KIDS COUNT in Colorado team traveled to Salida and Gunnison and were able to meet with community leaders to discuss how children and families are doing in the counties of Chaffee and Gunnison.  Our Vice President of Research Initiatives, Sarah Hughes, explained the importance of counting every person – including children – in the upcoming 2020 Census. We were also able to hear from these engaged communities about their efforts around health insurance enrollment, maternal health, and access to child care.  Two of our team members were also able to meet with Gunnison County Substance Abuse Prevention Project (GCSAPP) team members and hear about their fantastic work with youth engagement and substance and bullying prevention efforts. Thanks to our fantastic hosts from Chaffee County Public Health, and Gunnison County Health & Human Services for all their help!
