Healthy School Meals for All still needs your support
SB22-087 passed in the Senate Education Committee with a bipartisan 5-2 vote. It now moves to the Senate Appropriations Committee – where it’s anticipated to face more resistance. This means that now more than ever, it is vital for Coloradans to urge their legislators to guarantee healthy school meals for all public school students in our state.
Throughout the pandemic, the federal government implemented programs to ensure that U.S. students would have access to universal free school lunches during the public health crisis. Now, as we’ve crossed two years of the pandemic’s impact on our communities, these programs could disappear. As soon as June 30, millions of U.S. students could lose their access to free lunches. In Colorado, SB22-087 would create a Healthy School Meals for All program to ensure all Colorado students can access the nutritious food they need to learn and thrive. Without action during this legislative session, Colorado students across the state could lose their access to free lunch by summer. Join the Action Alert today!
