Tax Day is April 18, and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s Get Ahead Colorado program connects communities across the state to free tax resources.

Get Ahead’s website includes information on tax credit eligibility, answers to common tax questions, and access to services that make filing taxes as easy as possible. In addition, Get Ahead has numerous opportunities for folks to get involved in connecting communities to these critical resources.

It is critical that families file taxes and are informed about tax credit eligibility, as economic mobility is a driver of health. Tax reforms that prioritize kids are a crucial step toward eliminating child poverty and increasing the economic security, health, and overall well-being of families. The Child Tax Credit (CTC), along with the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), lifts more children out of poverty than any other program that is currently available. The CTC places money directly back into families’ pockets, helping pay for necessities like housing, food, school supplies, and clothing. It also helps families with young children afford the cost of child care, which supports children’s healthy development and allows parents to work. Get started with your taxes by visiting Get Ahead.
