In 2021, Head Start and Early Head Start served 10,109 children and pregnant people in Colorado, though there were likely many more who qualified for the programs. Head Start programs promote physical, cognitive, and social development; and boost school readiness among young children living in poverty. Enrollment challenges faced by providers amid COVID-19 have impacted the number of children and pregnant people being served by these essential programs. To learn more about Head Start enrollment in our state over the years, please visit the KIDS COUNT Data Center.
