In 2018, 81 percent of all 2-year-olds in Colorado were fully immunized, receiving the combined 6-vaccine series. Colorado’s 2018 estimate represents a significant increase in vaccine coverage compared to 2017 (when only 72 percent of 2-year-olds were fully immunized) and surpasses the 2018 national average of 75 percent. Still, the figure indicates nearly 1 in 5 of the state’s 2-year-olds are not fully protected from preventable diseases like polio, mumps, measles and whooping cough. To find out how Colorado’s immunization rate for young children has fluctuated over the last decade, please visit the KIDS COUNT Data Center.
