In the 2021-22 school year, Colorado public schools saw a slight increase in student enrollment in grades PK-12 after experiencing a sizeable drop during the first year of the pandemic. The Fall 2021 Student October Count conducted by the Colorado Department of Education found overall enrollment increased by 0.4% (approximately 3,300 children), with preschool and kindergarten experiencing the largest increases between fall 2020 and fall 2021. Despite this increase, 2021 student enrollment in Colorado public schools remains below its pre-pandemic level.
