Between 2015 and 2019, just 51 percent of Colorado’s 3- and 4-year-olds were enrolled in preschool, as reported by their parent(s) or caregiver(s). High-quality preschool programs help ensure our youngest learners start kindergarten with the skills they need to hit the ground running, and the positive effects of preschool don’t expire during childhood. Longitudinal research show that participation in a high-quality preschool program can alter the trajectory of a child’s life, with benefits experienced for decades to come.
