Health insurance is critical to both the well-being of Colorado children and the economic security of their families. In 2018, the Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+) covered 7.4 percent of our state’s children. Together, Medicaid and CHP+ insured more than half of all Colorado children in 2018 who might not have had access to health insurance otherwise; yet the latest state and national estimates indicate that child enrollment in these important public programs may be declining. To see the share of children enrolled in CHP+ in your county, please visit the KIDS COUNT Data Center.
