In the 2017-2018 school year, 10.9 percent of students in Colorado’s public schools received special education services. The number of students receiving special education services has grown steadily in our state since 2000; between 2007-2008 and 2017-2018 the figure increased by 27 percent, from about 77,800 children in special education to roughly 99,000.
