The economic security of Colorado’s families significantly impacts the wellbeing of our state’s children. The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, known as Colorado Works in our state, helps families in extreme poverty make ends meet by providing essential basic cash assistance (BCA) payments. In 2021, 3.5% of our state’s children received BCA, helping their families address pressing needs like diapers, car repairs and school supplies. To learn more about Colorado children in extreme poverty receiving BCA payments, please visit the KIDS COUNT Data Center.
