Education Investment Effort Kicks Off “Colorado Commits to Kids” Ballot Campaign

The Colorado Children’s Campaign is excited to support the statewide coalition of Colorado civic, business and community leaders that this week launched a petition drive to ask voters to invest in Colorado students.

Colorado Commits to Kids kicked off the petition drive to put an initiative on the November 2013 ballot to ask Coloradans to invest in our economic future by raising additional money for early childhood through 12th grade education. If approved, the new revenue would enact Senate Bill 13-213, the overhaul of the School Finance Act that modernizes Colorado schools by creating smaller classes, hiring and supporting effective teachers and connecting students with a 21st century education.

The coalition is working to gather 86,105 valid Colorado signatures by Aug. 5 to qualify for the ballot. Click here to read the full press release, and to sign up to receive email updates from the ballot campaign coalition. If you are in the Denver area and would like to volunteer to gather signatures, please contact Drew Sutton at or (303)243-5217.

See our website for more background on the school finance overhaul and stay tuned to KidsFlash for updates throughout the summer on how to get involved.
