1999 KIDS COUNT
KIDS COUNT in Colorado! is an annual publication of the Children’s Campaign, providing state- and county-level data on child well-being factors including child health, education, and economic status. The publication is relied upon by lawmakers, community leaders, and child advocates to inform policy debates and community discussions on issues impacting kids.
In 1990, the Colorado Children’s Campaign developed goals in critical areas of child health, education, and safety and set about working to meet them. Known as the Decade of the Child goals, they were endorsed by over 1,200 Colorado organizations and community leaders. The 1999 KIDS COUNT in Colorado! report re-examines these goals, highlighting areas where Colorado is showing improvement as well as situations that are worsening.
