Circle of Friends Tea Reflects on 30 Years Bold and Looks to Future
More than 150 Circle of Friends members gathered Thursday for their Annual Membership Tea, which this year celebrated the Children’s Campaign’s 30th Anniversary. Circle of Friends members reflected on the principals and values held by Children’s Campaign founders in 1985, how those values are held strong today, and what the future holds for both the Children’s Campaign with the support of the Circle and many others supporters.
Former Children’s Campaign President Barbara O’Brien, who also later served as Lieutenant Governor of Colorado, shared her experience in the early days of the organization, and why she still supports today. O’Brien recalled the founding of the Circle of Friends and marveled at its growth and success.
Chris Watney, Children’s Campaign President and CEO, shared highlights of the organization’s recent work and reflected on what was an idea 30 years ago, and how it has grown with the help of so many.
“Our founders 30 years ago nurtured this idea—this organization,” she said. “And as they did, it grew. What started as an idea became a movement with people behind it, like you, who were committed to doing better by our state’s kids.”
