This bill would require the Department of Education in partnership with district boards of education to develop policy and procedural recommendations to streamline school district open enrollment processes across the state. District boards would make their recommendations to the State Board of Education who would be required to promulgate rules for implementing new open enrollment guidelines.

The Colorado Children’s Campaign supports this bill because real choice among schools is limited if options aren’t equally visible. By aligning processes across districts, students and families will be able to make more informed decisions about the school that is best for their child.
