HB 16-1016 (Young) Using Multiple Measures of Student Academic Growth
Summary
This bill would set up a grant program to assist local education providers (school districts, boards of cooperative services and charter schools) in creating and applying multiple measures of student academic growth to measure the performance of schools, districts and educators.
Position
The use of multiple measures of student academic growth can provide educators with additional information that helps improve teaching practice. The Children’s Campaign supports the emphasis on creating measures that are high quality, rigorous and that provide actionable information for educators and students.
Current Status
Passed out of the House Education Committee as amended on a party line vote of 6-5 and now heads to the House Appropriations Committee.
