Tell Your Legislator You Support Colorado’s Careworkers!

Date Posted: March 28th, 2024

Everyone in Colorado relies on care or relies on someone who relies on care – whether it’s child care, home health support, or personal care. While the need for care workers continues to grow, low wages and insufficient benefits have led to a worker shortage and high rates of turnover.

The State Income Tax Credit for Careworkers (HB24-1312) is an opportunity to support eligible care workers by providing a $1,500 refundable tax credit each year.

Individuals eligible for this credit are employed in the following care professions:

  • Licensed Child Care Providers

  • Family, Friend, and Neighbor Child Care Providers

  • Certified Nursing Assistants

  • Home Health Workers

  • Personal Care Aides

Child care providers support the healthy development and well-being of kids and help families and communities thrive. HB24-1312 will make a meaningful difference in the lives of these providers and other essential care workers, who are disproportionately women and people of color, and for their families and the families that depend on them. It also builds a foundation for future investments in a society that truly supports caregiving.

HB24-1312 will be heard by the House Finance Committee on Monday, April 1. Please tell your legislator to support the State Income Tax Credit for Careworkers and the caring workforce today!
