ACT NOW: Urge your Congressional delegation to prioritize early childhood education and child care in the American Families Plan

Date Posted: August 6th, 2021

Early childhood is a critical time that lays the foundation for the rest of children’s lives.  However, the high cost and limited supply of these services creates insurmountable challenges for too many families, and the pandemic has only exacerbated these problems.

The Biden administration’s proposed American Families Plan would provide a $225 billion investment to address the childcare needs of families and providers, $200 billion to expand voluntary preschool access to all 3- and 4-year-olds, and an extension of recent improvements to crucial tax credits.

Currently, Congress has the opportunity to secure an investment that could truly create a better early learning system — one that works for both families and educators. Child care is an integral pillar supporting America’s economic recovery and long-term success. Therefore, it is essential that you urge your elected officials to prioritize investments in Colorado’s children, families, early educators, and economic future in the American Families Plan.
