Riley Kitts is the Sr. Director of Policy and Government Affairs for the Colorado Children’s Campaign. After serving as the Children’s Campaign’s Government Affairs Director for four years, Riley has taken on additional leadership within our Policy and Advocacy teams. Riley has spent several years in Colorado politics, working both inside and out of the State Capitol. Riley initially joined the Children’s Campaign from the Colorado Department of Human Services, where he spent three legislative sessions spearheading the agency’s legislative and budgetary agendas. Prior to that, he spent several years with the Colorado House Democrats serving in various roles from Executive Assistant to the Speaker to Field and Outreach Directors. Some of Riley’s proudest legislative accomplishments include the passage of HB17-1207 which prevents kids under the age of 12 from going to youth corrections for nonviolent offenses, HB19-1262 which provide free, full-day kindergarten to all 5-year-olds and included the biggest preschool expansion in state history, and SB20-029 which provided critical cash assistance to families who are experiencing deep poverty during the COVID pandemic.
Riley earned his degree in Political Science from the University of Colorado-Boulder and immediately dove into local politics after college. He is a Denver native, graduate of Bishop Machebeuf Catholic High School, and enjoys watching every second of Colorado sports with his wife, Alyssa, and son, Cotton.
