Event Details
Registration is now open for 2016 Speak Up for Kids Day at the Capitol, to be held March 16, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Denver and the Colorado State Capitol. A joint effort of Clayton Early Learning, Children’s Hospital Colorado, and Colorado Children’s Campaign, Speak Up for Kids brings together child advocates from across Colorado to learn about important policy issues and gain the skills needed to advocate effectively for Colorado’s kids. If you care about kids’ issues but are uncertain how to make your voice heard on policy issues, this is the event for you! And if you’re an experienced advocate, 2016 Speak Up for Kids Day includes new workshops to continue building your skills.
The core Speak Up for Kids Day agenda runs from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and includes breakfast, tips for effective advocacy from Colorado legislators, issue briefings on bills under consideration by the legislature, preparation for legislator visits, a guided trip to the Colorado State Capitol to meet with the legislators who represent you, lunch, and inspiration from Nita Mosby Henry of Children’s Hospital Colorado and your fellow Speak Up attendees. New in 2016 are optional skills building sessions from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. which will provide more in-depth training on effective advocacy both within the legislature and in the community as a whole. This popular event is sure to fill up, so we encourage you to register today!
