Speak Up for Kids Day at the Capitol
In light of growing concerns about the coronavirus (COVID-19) here in Colorado, we have decided to take every precaution and cancel our Speak Up for Kids advocacy day this Thursday, March 12. We have continued to closely monitor guidance from our public health department and health organizations and have determined that canceling our event is a meaningful step we can take to keep people safe and contain the virus. This event is always one of our favorite days of the year. We regret the short notice and we are saddened to cancel this event, however, the health and safety of attendees and their families, coaches and volunteers, speakers, and public servants are our greatest priorities at this time. We appreciate your understanding—please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.
Just because coronavirus canceled the event doesn’t mean you can’t still speak up for kids! In place of the canceled, in-person Speak Up event, we will be hosting a zoom call/webinar on Thursday, March 12 from 9:00 to 10:00 am to cover the three priority bills identified by the Speak Up for Kids partners and to share specific actions that Speak Up advocates can take in support of child health and wellbeing. Please plan to join us by using the links below. Additionally, all of the background materials that we prepared for the event are available online at bit.ly/speakupmaterials.

A joint effort of Clayton Early Learning, Children’s Hospital Colorado, and Colorado Children’s Campaign, Speak Up for Kids Day at the Capitol is a complimentary event that offers those interested in child advocacy an insider’s perspective of the policy making process. Participants get the training and support needed to speak up effectively on the issues that matter most to Colorado kids. If you care about kids’ issues but are uncertain how to make your voice heard on policy issues, this is the event for you!
