Join us for our 25th Anniversary Annual Luncheon!
On Wednesday, October 13, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., we will celebrate our 25th Anniversary with a truly special event that will help us commemorate this milestone, celebrate a strong track record of victories for kids and commit to another 25 years of fighting for their well-being. We hope you’ll join us!
We are honored to have as our featured guest Davis Guggenheim, Academy Award-winning director and creator of the new acclaimed documentary highlighting the education crisis in America, “Waiting for Superman.” View the film’s trailer here.
Aside from getting a sneak peek at extended clips from the film before it opens widely in Colorado, Luncheon guests will have the unique opportunity to hear Mr. Guggenheim discuss, firsthand, his motivation for making the film and the critical education issues highlighted in it.
More about Mr. Guggenheim and “Waiting for Superman”
Davis Guggenheim is a critically acclaimed, Academy Award-winning director and producer, whose early work includes many television dramas such as “Deadwood,” “NYPD Blue” and “24.” He transitioned into directing non-fiction films with “The First Year,” which aired on PBS in 2001 and won a Peabody Award. “An Inconvenient Truth,” featuring former Vice President Al Gore, was theatrically distributed by Paramount in 2006, and won an Academy Award for Best Documentary.
Mr. Guggenheim’s latest work, “Waiting for Superman,” is a provocative and cogent examination of the crisis of public education in the United States told through multiple interlocking stories—from a handful of students and their families whose futures hang in the balance, to the educators and reformers trying to find real and lasting solutions within a dysfunctional system.
